WHAT IS A FLOWER ESSENCE ?

Stemming from the encounter of flower, sun and water, flower essences work by transforming emotions, attitudes and behavioural patterns that impede personal growth and can disrupt health.
Each flower essence is identified by the "quality" it carries. This "quality" is the expression of a dynamic blooming process, a potential transformation specific to each floral species used and corresponding to the personalities, feelings and moods of human beings.

A source of balance and well-being , flower essences are used to harmonise the psychic part of life, stimulate vitality and help us to cope with existential challenges. They work by transforming emotions, attitudes and behavioural habits that prevent personal growth and perturb health in general.

Discovered by Dr. Bach in the 1930's, flower essences are pure, natural and useful products that can be simply used by all, including children. They are recognised worldwide for their great efficiency and for being non-toxic.
Free of physical or biochemical agents, flower essences are not a medication: there is no risk over overdose and there are no side effects.

DEVA flower essences can be introduced into daily life through a number of different ways. When used occasionally, they balance moods, they can reduce the stress related to situations such as taking a test, they can eliminate fear...
Used over longer periods of time, they work to release deep emotional blockages, and static or erroneous behavioural patterns.

Other examples include their use in overcoming sadness, discouragement, lack of confidence, indecision and difficulty in self-expression and communication…

Preparation of DEVA flower essences

Two stages are necessary in the preparation of a flower essence.

First, a mother essence or tincture is obtained by solar infusion of the flowers in water. As they are picked, the flowers of a particular plant species are immediately laid on the surface of very pure spring water and exposed to the sun, in their natural habitat, for several hours. The flowers are then removed and the « mother essence », thus obtained, is combined with alcohol as a conserving agent, and dynamised.

The following stage in making the flower essence consists in adding some drops of the mother essence to a mixture of water and alcohol (traditional flower essence), to a base of maple syrup (alcohol-free essence), to a cream or massage oil (for external use).

The preparation of a flower essence is a living, dynamic process. It is more than just a seemingly simple technique. Requiring sensitive perception and a deep knowledge of the plant world, numerous factors come into consideration in the preparation of a flower essence :

  • The choice of the site and of the plants, in a pure, unpolluted environment, with flowers at the peak of their period of flowering, reaching their optimal stage of blooming.
  • The choice of the day and the moment, taking into account cosmic and environmental influences which have a repercussion on the properties of the plants.
  • The quality of the material used as a support in the preparation and the purity of the spring water used.
  • The person who prepares and dynamises the flower essence. By his/her knowledge of the Elements, by his/her understanding of the subtle energies at work, he/she is the catalyst who favours the transfer of the essential message from the plant to the flower essence.
